Every
country has a symbol. Brazil has the Christ Redeemer, France has the
Eiffel Tower and so on. The United States has its symbol as well. The
Statue of Liberty, was given to the US, by the French in 1876
to celebrate the United State’s 100th year of independence.Today,
an astronomical tem of architects, engineers, sculptors, and workers,
are working together to restore this piece of art and history created
by the sculptor, Bartholdi. Bartholdi created many different prototypes
before finally choosing the statue that represents Liberty: the United
States symbol.
The
statue was made of copper, which was put on a steel structure, a pedestal
designed by an American architect.
The
Statue’s architecture is pleasing to the eye. Around the torch
there is a platform in which people can climb a stairway and get to
the top. From this platform you are able to see the sea, and marvelous
New York City.
The
Island where The Statue of Liberty stands is known
as Liberty Island. This island is in part of New York port’s bay.
“Liberty Enlightening the World” was a
song written to honor The Statue of Liberty, “The
New Colossus”.
